Social Media s Influence On Hate Crime - 1348 Words
Why they are provoking hate, and crime-politics is the second burning issue that results in disorder in the nation. The media outlets and social networks which are located abroad are never claimed for disorder by the laws and regulations of the victim nation or ethnic group. Unfortunately, it is hard to know in advance whether a conflict will be gradual or sudden. ââ¬Å"The Internet and social media networks are not under any sort of inspection against racist ideas, hate or abusive speech in the name of freedom of surfing the Web.â⬠It might be a disaster for the nation and could lead to genocide, especially for the multi-ethnic country, Ethiopia. In other words, social media hides any responsibility of accountability for hate messages posted onâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The background of the diaspora extremists, who is running the hate politics were members of the previous dictatorship regime with criminal records before or post the downfall of the regime. Diaspora with it s media property is ââ¬Å"members of the extended family of ESAT, were once ideologues of the murderous Derg regime and accomplices of its crime.â⬠The first reason why the main actors of ESAT are focusing on such sinful doings is because of their background. Secondly, these members were legatees from the previous regime, therefore, they are collaborators of the then regime and its criminal acts. In the same article written by Ezana Sehay it clearly states why this group targets on the Tigrayans. ââ¬Å"The people of Tigray, on the other hand, were the fulcrum of the popular revolution that led to the Derg demise. Therefore, their hostility towards Tigreans is not unexpected.â⬠The Tigray peopleââ¬â¢s Liberation Front (TPLF) was the first to begin an armed struggle among the four founding parties and one of the founders of the ruling party, the Ethiopian Peopleââ¬â¢s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF).
